Winter Village at Bryant Park
Every year, since 2010, Bryant Park transforms to host the BofA Winter Village. This is an experience designed for visitors to be able to enjoy the park in the winter time. It offers the only free admission ice skate rink in NYC, the Lodge and the Holiday Shops experience.
Due to some changes of business partners by the end of 2015, the BofA Winter Village experience had to be redesigned to welcome new business partners for the year 2016. As a result, the design of the Holiday Shops, layout of the space, custom signage and amenities had to change.
Wayfinding System
There was the need of designing a wayfinding system to match the new Holiday Shops experience. The inhouse design team and Urbanspace decided to organize the wayfinding according to the different areas. A color was assigned to each area, orange for the North, purple for the East, magenta for the West, yellow for the South, and teal for the Rink.
Different signage was placed strategically thoughout the Park, along with custom Brochures to help visitors navigate the Park and Holiday Shops.

Light Towers
On previous iterations, lighting had been consistently a problem in the rink. Apparently the solution was to have smaller but more light towers around the rink, so that lighting was even throughout the ice. We used truss lighting system, and covered them with vinyl mesh to blend with the rest of the Winter Village environmental graphics. By using mesh to cover each tower, we were able to place mood lighting in the interior of each tower, creating an appealing effect during night time.
Polar Lounge
The skating pavilion was a space designed for visitors to access the ice rink, rent ice skates and store their belongings while skating. At the end of the pavilion, there was a space called the Polar Lounge where skaters were able to access when needing to take a break.
